Bio

Canon background
Isaaru is a former summoner who tried to recapture his original dream by opening a tourist attraction at a formerly sacred site, including theatrics and a fake quest. This turned out to not be such a good idea when his business associate left and monkeys took over the site. He has two younger brothers, Meroda and Pacce, who traveled with him on his pilgrimage but went off to do their own things after that ended. They still hold Isaaru in high regard and the three of them are very close.
As for his special skills, he claims that his unchanging nature is one of his best assets (although he is actually quite adaptable) and others mention he has great organizational skills and knows how to take care of details. He also seemed to have rather a great rapport with the temple monkeys...

AU adaptation
Isaaru's the kind of guy who would try to keep other students from playing mean pranks and asking them why they weren't in class the day after a big party (that he probably didn't even know about because nobody invites the Good Kid to parties!) He wouldn't have gone anyway - he had to study! But he's not unwilling to bend a few rules if it's for a greater cause he truly believes in.

Physical appearance
He's of average height, and he almost always wears his semi-long hair up in a ponytail at the top of his head. Not quite a topknot, but the ponytail is definitely UP rather than at the base of his neck. He tends to wear sweaters (to approximate the cuddly kimono-thing he wears in canon). So pretty much he looks like the icons... I guess he's normal?

In Isaaru's words
Initially I started this journal to keep a record of our journey to see the snow monkeys, but I suppose I just got too involved to keep up with it. Hopefully I will be using it more as I head off to A.U.
I'll be studying Political Science. I suppose everything is subject to change, but for now I think I'll enjoy this field of study.

Isaaru's AU application long-answer response:
In the summer following my graduation from high school my younger brothers and I agreed to travel to Nagano to see the snow monkeys. As we were only able to use public transportation on account of a limited budget, I thought it would be a good educational experience for my brothers if we visited some of the more notable sites of interest in the cities along the way. It was during one of these stopovers in which I inadvertently became embroiled in a local political controversy. It seemed as if tension was heating up, so for their protection I sent my brothers back home. They wanted to stay and help, especially the youngest, but I am glad they were not there to witness my blunder. Without hearing both sides of the issue, I had automatically assumed that the incumbent power base was right and assisted them accordingly. It was not until after the conflict was resolved that I realized that I had acted unfairly and with bias.
By this time, school had begun for my brothers, but I wanted to continue my journey to see the snow monkeys. When I arrived at the National Park, however, I found that the facilities had fallen into disrepair; the park itself was littered with garbage; and the monkeys had become unruly. I, along with another visitor to the park, decided to volunteer our time and help make the area attractive to tourists again. Together we cleaned up the facilities, set up some picnic sites, and even created a scavenger hunt of sorts to encourage visitors to hike through the park. Everything seemed to be going fine except that the monkeys were not getting any better. They were taking the tourists lunches, stealing their pocket change, and generally becoming a nuisance. At that point, an acquaintance I had met previously on my journey pointed out that perhaps it would be a nicer place if left pristine. My associate had already left to pursue other interests, so I closed down what little remained of our venture and left the park to the monkeys and the park rangers. Although it turned out to be a failure, I feel my involvement helped everyone in the end.
